An in-depth analysis on the Ben 10 franchise

You heard that right folks, I'm doing an analysis on Ben 10!

Yes, we all know that it's about a bratty kid who has a watch that can transform him into several (More than 10 at this point) alien forms, a pain-in-the-ass redheaded cousin (Seriously, she should know her role, and shut her mouth. I can't stand women like her... Even though she does grow up in Alien Force), and a Grandfather with the sickest culinary sense (Come on man, GRUBWORMS?). But there's more to it than that, that makes it a kinda "Meh" series to me.

First of all, the theme song is kinda catchy. But Alien Force kinda ruined it. That's not to say that Alien Force is bad... Actually I think it's better! But more on that later...

Second, it's kinda interesting to see what alien form Ben will take (And even more interesting to see how he'll adapt if the Omnitrix pusses out). Each form is unique and diverse, yet some are cliched (Heatblast, Ripjaws, Humongosaur in Alien Force), but most are really actually pretty cool! Like Wildmutt, for example... I always liked him. He seems to have the perfect balance of strength and speed, with no weaknesses, save for clogged sensors. I really think that 1 dog form was enough. They shouldn't have created Benwolf.

But there are some parts that could need a little touching up. For instance, the villians. Vilgax is the most BORING villian I've ever seen. No personality whatsoever. A good antagonist needs a personality, to make him/her interesting. Like the Joker! He has the most unpredictable personality ever! He could kill you, or he could just punch you, he's crazy! And he's a serial killer! But I'm talking about the (Late) Heath Ledger Joker, not the Cartoon Joker. That guy's too into his Joker theme. Electric joy buzzers and Joker gas? The Heath Ledger one just whips out a gun and goes nuts! That's what makes him great! But Vilgax is just so BORING... And the other villians, like Mesmeiro, and Dr. Animo, are boring too. I'd say the greatest villian in the series would be Kevin Leven. He's somewhat equal to Ben, and a perfect rival for him. Too bad he turns good in Alien Force.

Another thing that's kinda crappy is the writing. We are all sick of one-liners in cartoons. They're not witty, they're not funny, they're CLICHED. And the catchphrase "Going Hero?" Gotta go. I mean, it's okay to do it if it activates your powers (Flame On, for example), but if you just DO it, it's stupid. Also, in the first series, Ben never seems to mature, even when Gwen bitches him out. One more thing. Gwen needs to apply the lessons she tells Ben into her OWN LIFE. Hypocrite bratty bitch...

This is why Alien Force is better: Man of Action has matured in their writing, and has dropped the stupid kiddy dialogue. If I were to review Ben 10 and Alien Force, I'd say they'd score a 5 and 8 out of 10, respectively. In conclusion: Ben 10 IS a good series. You just have to look deep in the show, and swallow your pride while doing it.
